Sousa's Band

John Philip Sousa is well known for being the director of the leading band known as 'Sousa's Band.' His impact on musical history will be regarded by many for generations to come, thanks to his array of prominent songs and captivating albums. Keeping in mind his lifetime of work, spanning 60 years and 13 countries, it's no wonder that people still remember him today. He composed numerous hits such as ‘The Washington Post March’, ‘Stars and Stripes Forever’ and ‘Sempre Fidelis’. But not just marches! He also wrote a wealth of other genres such as comic operas and Broadway hits. And let us not forget his operettas: El Capitan, The Bride Elect, The Paid Piper and Manitou are all considered some of his best works. A true virtuoso born with a conductor's baton in hand indeed!
