KISS drummer Eric Singer is now an honorary police officer.
Police Chief Terry David Lynch from the Wharton police department had the privileged to do, the swearing in shortly before KISS’s End of the Road concert at Houston’s Toyota Centre on Monday. The concert occurred at 9th September and all this happened while Eric Singer was in a full Catman makeup and the police chief wearing a KISS t-shirt.
Eric Singer received a formal letter from the chief of the police department, and a custom shadow box bearing within the department’s badge and insignia for presentation purposes, and in return he will serve a lifetime position among the ranks, the moment was capture and shared on the Wharton Police Department Facebook page and was received with very positive messages and best wishes from fans.
Still, this news isn’t something new in the rock genre. Earlier this year in June the former Five Finger Death Punch drummer joined the Indiana police department as a reserve officer. Despite songs from both bands talk about Anarchy, we can see that they are upstanding citizens that even want to help protect the society where they live.
Hopefully this can have a positive impact in younger fans in the genre to try to help their communities and strive to be a better citizen, by following their role models such as Eric Singer or any other artist and try to make to make a positive contribution.
The letter that Chief Lynch delivered to Eric Singer reads in part: On behalf of Chief Terry David Lynch, and the men and women of the Wharton Police Department, we appoint you to the rank of Honorary Corporal with our department, in grateful acknowledgement of the honor and respect you show all of America’s dedicated law enforcement heroes and their families.
The Corporal badge presented to you today has been selflessly worn by many within our department and today, it begins a new chapter with you.
We ask that you display it proudly as it represents our commitment to protect those who call on us in times of danger, and in remembrance of the nearly 24,000 officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since 1791.
As a profession, we are grateful, and as a department, we are humbled to have Eric Singer as a member of our family in blue.
Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.
The End of The Road farewell tour launched in January and is expected to run through at least the end of 2020 and will be the last time the band will play, after this tour the band will officially retire.
The tour will pass through North America, Europe and Asia, with the closing of the tour a remarkable Era of Rock comes to a close with many upcoming bands all wanting to strive and reach the same podium and heights as Kiss reached.
KISS current lineup consists of original members Paul Stanley (the guitarist, vocalist and compositor), and fellow original member Gene Simmons (vocalist and bassist), alongside later band additions, Tommy Thayer (guitarist) (since 2002) and Singer (on and off since 1991).
Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, drummer Peter Criss and lead guitarist Ace Frehley, KISS staged its first farewell tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.
The band, from New York, is still to this day an icon of the hard rock genre, with iconic songs such. I Was Made for Lovin’ You, Rock and Roll All Nite and Strutter – a song that Grand Theft Auto fans might remember, from the also iconic San Andreas game – are just a few of those.
Their members are already known for some unexpected appearances, like Gene Simmons appearance at Santa Anita’s Park. Maybe, we will see Kiss in the Breeders Cup 2019, since they appear to be horse racing enthusiasts!
